PRIVACY POLICY

The New England Conference of Public Utilities Commissioners (“NECPUC”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to ensuring the privacy of our visitors. With this in mind, NECPUC has adopted the following as its privacy policy:

Information collected from visitors to the NECPUC Website is used to address the specific needs of those visitors and to provide a record of communications between us and our Website visitors.  No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Statistical & Personally Identifiable Information

When accessing our Website, NECPUC may learn certain information about you during your visit. How we will handle information we learn about you may depend upon what you do when visiting our site.

If you visit our site to read or download information on our pages, we may collect and store the following information about you:

  1. The name of the domain from which you access the Internet;
  2. The date and time you access our site; and
  3. The Internet address of the Website you used to link directly to our site.

If you identify yourself by sending us an e-mail or other communications containing personal information, then the information collected will be used to respond to your message.

The information collected is for statistical purposes. NECPUC may use software programs to create summary statistics, which are used for such purposes as assessing the number of visitors to the different sections of our site, what information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas.

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, NECPUC may use software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.

NECPUC will not obtain personally-identifying information about you when you visit our site, unless you choose to provide such information to us, nor will such information be sold or otherwise transferred to unaffiliated third parties without the approval of the user at the time of collection.

As stated above, NECPUC does not collect personally identifiable information about individuals who visit our site except when the information is specifically provided on a voluntary basis. Such instances where personally identifiable information may be gathered are the registration for subscription sites or services and in connection with content submissions, suggestions, and transactional areas. Such information may be obtained via a third-party service, such as Mailchimp or Orchid Event Solutions. Third party links and services are not covered by this privacy policy.

Personally identifiable information on individual users will not be sold or otherwise transferred, except as necessary for NECPUC’s use of said information (for example, Mailchimp, Orchid Event Solutions, or other third party). NECPUC reserves the right to contact a user regarding account status, changes to the subscriber agreement and other matters relevant to the underlying service or the information collected.

Users may always “opt out” of further promotional contacts at any time. Also, upon request, NECPUC will take reasonable efforts to delete a user’s personal information from its database. It may be impossible to delete a user’s entry without some residual information because of backups and records of deletions.

Use of Cookies

NECPUC’s Website may use cookies to facilitate easier navigation within the site and provide a higher level of convenience for the visitor. A cookie is a small piece of information about an Internet session that may be created when a visitor accesses a Website. The cookies used by our Website do not contain any personal information regarding the visitor, and do not retrieve any information from the visitor’s personal computer.

External Websites & Symposium Registration and Payment

The NECPUC Website may include links to an external website to be used for the purpose of obtaining information or signing up for the NECPUC Symposium.  The NECPUC website itself will not ask you to provide information associated with purchase (e.g., credit card information).  The terms and conditions of any external website will apply to your registration for the Symposium or any other purchase external to the NECPUC website.

As more fully stated in the Terms and Conditions applicable to the NECPUC Website and incorporated herein, NECPUC expressly disclaims any responsibility for the content, the materials, the accuracy of the information, and/or quality of the products or services provided by, available through, or advertised on any third party Websites and NECPUC disclaims all liability with regard to your access to and use of such linked websites.

Miscellaneous

The foregoing policies are effective as of December 18, 2015. NECPUC reserves the right to change this policy at any time. This statement and the policies outlined here are not intended to and do not create any contractual or other legal rights in or on behalf of any party.
